and since the network is intentionally designed to do approximately constant work per unit wall-clock time, that will get WORSE as people add mining nodes, and only improve when the network votes to increase block size or ASIC manufacturers execute die shrinks

it took 7 hours for a bitcoiner to complain that this analysis isn't counting the "something of value" the system is doing by committing a coinbase transaction to magically give someone 25 BTC, which is longer than I expected and still the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard
