Interesting how Musk's public transport pitch has gone from "pew pew hylperloop" to retrofitting some Teslas onto a closed track

@volt4ire Hmm. What's wrong with Vegas's monorail? This system seems to be serving a specific need, and it's the cheapest of the proposals, so it seems unlikely to be a boondoggle. If it's high risk it seems like the reason would be the vehicles themselves, whereas monorails are a tried & true technology made by experienced companies (Bombardier in the case of Las Vegas IIRC). They just didn't live up to the early hype compared to conventional rail.
