Wow I can't believe "glitch" has a Yiddish etymology (from "glitshn", meaning to slide, which was used by 1940s radio operators) https://boingboing.net/2019/10/29/the-yiddish-roots-of-glitch.html

Proof: the #kikk19 festival is the first event I've attended, which does not focus on alternative solutions, open source nor decentralization, though generally focuses on art, design and tech, where other attendees where posting things about the festival on the #fediverse using the official hashtag.

Holy shit, the gitcoin founder told me "we're burning over $100K/mo to try to Grow[sic] and Sustain Open Source; we're just trying to keep the lights on with the 10% fee"
What the fuck? What are they spending $100K/mo on? That's like 20+ engineer's salaries, they could just straight up pay free software devs to work on free software and have a huge impact with a budget like that.
A while ago I asked my patrons what features they'd like to see in future Mastodon releases. Now, I'd like to ask you, my followers. I'd like to hear what people outside of GitHub think.

Directors restricting what speed you're allowed to playback their films is the perfect illustration of the absurdity of DRM and "creators' rights" more generally https://www.theguardian.com/film/2019/oct/28/netflix-backlash-playback-speed-test-feature
