I was browsing a Peertube instance earlier and stumbled upon a copy of The Internet's Own Boy, a documentary about Aaron Swartz.

I haven't seen it before so I decided to give it a watch.

By the end of it I was in tears, I don't think I've seen anything in a while that made me cry like that.

Also, I had no idea he co-authored the RSS 1.0 specification, wow.

@staticsafe Yes, I saw it there too. I have seen it before a handful of times, and generally cry at the end.

@krozruch @staticsafe gonna have to watch it again its been along time. and more appropriate to watch it from a instance over . Every time I pass the mural of him in Williamsburg I feel sad.

@wakest @staticsafe I've not looked into IPFS for a while. Sure there's been lots of progress since. Wouldn't know how to go about that right now mind.

@krozruch @staticsafe oh I totally forgot peertube was using webtorrent not ipfs. hard to keep up with all these things. github.com/Chocobozzz/PeerTube

@wakest Aha, I thought you had some specific set-up going on. IPFS seemed to make sense for the project somehow. I get that torrents help with streaming once there are lots of viewers, but it seems wasteful in one sense if users torrent only for the moment they are watching a given video. I don't understand IPFS so well but could users not then choose to co-host certain videos somehow?

@krozruch + Peertube honestly seem like a match made in heaven I don't understand why that issue was closed.
