the contradiction here is that making a bad actor more vulnerable would make us all more vulnerable... which only hurts those who are already vulnerable. don't give the state tools and rely on centralized policing when you could be giving a community moderation tools instead.

@wilkie this is a strange take to see coming from either side when you remember that every parler user is hopefully about to lose their job because the site required picture IDs

@wilkie doing such a thing would allow platform owners to forward risk to those who post on their platform. i think this is what missing section 230 would look like

@wilkie It’s especially funny when Parler famously encouraged its users to provide government ID to verify themselves, and it seems that many of its worst actors were verified.
