I've been working on Linux On The Desktop for the best part of a decade, but for some reason all headphones are cursed when I touch them. I can just never make them work reliably over USB, 3.5mm or Bluetooth, and I just have no idea how to fix any of these problems ☹

I've had reasonably decent luck with Linux audio but I found the path of least resistance to be to buy a cheap powered speaker with a headphone jack, plug it into the monitor's output and plug or unplug my headphones into that.

The computer doesn't know about the headphone state and so can't do anything "cleverly" "helpful".
