This is my personal Mastodon instance. I would highly urge you all to set up your own when/if you can. (The process is currently relatively uncomplicated for developers but not for people without technical knowledge.)
The danger, of course, is that a large company with lots of money will start a Mastodon node just like Google did with Gmail (Gastodon?)
Mastodon is an amazing effort and I’m glad it exists. Our next challenge is decentralising at the scale of the individual, not the community.
@aral I'll definitely look into setting up my own instance. As the techie in the family, I'll also provide accounts for my tribe :)
