Thinking about it, when I joined Twitter in 2008, I don't think there were follow recommendations. Nor have I ever used them since. There were no recommendations when I joined the fediverse. Perhaps I am overestimating the usefulness of that feature for bringing new people in.
I sure hope so because it's frustrating me.
