They refused to hire enough employees.
Didn't make plans to cover sick workers’ shifts.

Didn't include your human needs in their calculations.

@yogthos I've heard stories of contingent workers for tech companies not even getting sick days, so they have to balance not having food on the table and potentially spreading pathogens around.

It's definitely the employers' fault. And a failure of the state to regulate working conditions (US workers also do not get mandatory vacation days and parental leave).
