@ysengrin A habit you should cultivate. ^_^ *nods* What's new and exciting?

@porsupah A little of this, a little of that. Coming up to speed with using 3d printing as part of the sculpture workflow.

@ysengrin Oh, coolness! What are you creating the designs in? I may be picking your brains on the topic next year - I imagine I'll be creating at least some, if not all, of my SL av's head using 3D printing when I finally bring it into RL.

@porsupah Blender for the heavy work, though I might start in Sketchup if it's a more mechanical design. Simplify 3D for slicing & making g-code, and a Creality CR-10S for the actual printing. Mostly making forms I can do detail work on after printing.

3D printing chatter

@ysengrin duly filed away, literally. ^_^ I suppose I otter get into the software pipeline involved sooner rather than later, especially if I want the head to actually look good. =:)

Coo, that's quite a decent size printing volume! 30x30x40cm.

Is there any standard for data sent to 3D printers, 脿 la PostScript, or is it more like DSLR RAW formats?

3D printing chatter

@porsupah Gcode is pretty much the standard (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G-code). It's nicely human-readable, too - since I've had to tweak some files by hand, that helps :)

I've used pretty much the full range of all three axes (not in one print), though I try to keep print times under ten hours or so.
