Wasn't that so annoying on Twitter? You read an account that has an obvious focus. You look at the discussion, and there's a stream of these comments offended by their existence. Instant block, that's how I called it.
There's no algorithm here. If you don't want this you can unfollow, mute or block, or disable boosts for the person that boosted. Note mute works on boosts, unlike Twitter.

@zoeschiffer coincidentally, Twitter is unusable in Australia today. Tweets and replies fail to load most of the time, and when they do, it takes at least 20s.
