When I was the IT guy at my uni department (not IT), it happened more than once that I was asked to help with the dissemination for some project. The specs where usually: "We need a button". Well, that's easy - but what should it do? "When you click it, a form with 37 interdependent inputs shows up and there is ANOTHER button. That one sends you an email with a PDF with all those charts I have prepared in Excel." They never wanted a program that generates a report, always "Just one Button".
@BonehouseWasps@fesshole yeah once found a mobile phone while bumming around the south of Spain and somehow managed to contact the owner... Waited for them to meet me but they didn't thank me much either. Had hoped for at least a 20 as I was totally skint at the time.
It was a couple that came, I did wonder if maybe the place where I found the phone might have been incriminating for the owner and that's why the atmosphere was so tense and not thankful but who knows.
