I was thinking about genAI and how much I do not want to use it. I get offended when well-meaning people suggest I should use it \"to make things easier\".
Put aside the environmental and anti-humanist factors, and it comes down to two types of people:
For just about everything involving my job and my hobbies, I'm definitely the first kind.
I'm blessed to be allowed to work like the first, as well. I am thankfully not being pushed so hard I have to use it. I'm being pushed pretty hard, but my boss doesn't like genAI, either.
I want to know how because it lets me plan around foreseeable problems. It lets me troubleshoot. It lets me find quirky efficiencies.
I want to know because I enjoy learning, even if it's frustrating as hell sometimes to tear a problem apart by hand.
Ultimately, there is joy in learning how and why.
I know at least one person who uses genAI to teach him how to do things. He told us how he used ChatGPT to teach him about managing Active Directory as if it was an Old West cowboy (\"Howdy, pardner.\") That's interesting and creative, and you probably couldn't buy training like that, but he should not trust it to be correct. Ultimately, that's the biggest, unsolvable problem: there is no way to guarantee accuracy because it doesn't \"know\" anything other than \"most likely next token\".
\"I just use it to organize and summarize my notes.\" Wouldn't doing it yourself help you better comprehend what you wrote. Might you not find gaps or missed realizations if you did it yourself?
If you are forced to use genAI or get fired, use it. I'm not asking people to stop if it means losing your livelihoods.
But if you don't have to use it, ask yourself why you want to. If a task is so undesirable that you want to give it to a genAI, maybe you don't need to do it at all. Go do something you enjoy instead.

Gero will serve as creator, writer, executive producer and showrunner of Stargate. Executive producers also include Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell for Safehouse Pictures (Obi-Wan Kenobi, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters) as well as Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich, the duo behind the 1994 Stargate movie. Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi, longtime creative leaders within the Stargate TV universe, will serve as consulting producers.
Gero created and served as executive producer on Blindspot, which aired for five seasons on NBC. So today, Joel Runyon—owner of IMPOSSIBLE—wanders into my LinkedIn comments and drops some truly salacious stuff about Impossible Foods.
The kind of comment where you sit up straight, because suddenly the plant-based sector feels less like a CPG category and more like an HBO miniseries. It was so wild, so dramatic, that I had to fact check it myself.
And here’s what is absolutely, unequivocally true.
Impossible Foods really has been on a litigation spree. Not polite lawyer letters. Not quiet negotiations. Full courtroom warfare. Motif? Sued.
Joel’s own company IMPOSSIBLE® (est. 2010)? Sued.
A tiny Spanish bakery just trying to sell bread? Sued by Impossible, won outright, and kept its trademark while Impossible covered its own legal costs.
This isn’t gossip. It’s documented legal history.
It’s also true that CEO Peter McGuinness went onstage at a major summit and declared the plant-based sector “became woke and partisan and political and divisive.” A direct quote. Delivered loudly. Into microphones. The man basically put the entire category on the couch and diagnosed it in public.
And the irony here is hard to ignore. The entire plant-based category only exists because early adopters—vegans, vegetarians, flexitarians, climate-motivated shoppers—kept the market alive long enough for the mainstream to care. Calling the sector “too woke” reads like biting the hand that fed you. The people who built the initial demand curve are now being framed as the flaw in it.
And yes—the plant-based meat segment is collapsing. That’s not an opinion. It’s the data.
Retail down. Volume down. Velocity down. Food-service pullback across the board. A market that soared on hype and aspiration now unwinding in slow motion.
These are the facts—what I’ve verified. No embellishment required.
The lawsuits are real. The CEO’s comments are real. The collapse of the category is real.
And that alone is enough to make Joel’s cameo in my comments section one of the more entertaining plot twists of the week.

Home from the hospital.
They couldn't do the surgery yesterday.
Nearly died. My heart rate dropped dramatically.
Once they stabilized me, they took me back to the room to recover.
I'll be meeting with cardiology soon. Heart disease runs in our family. I had a mild heart attack 5 years ago.
The goal for now is to get healthy enough to try again in 6 months to remove the tumor.

Today, @Supervisor Wojciech Wiewiórowski, took part in the panel: \"AI High-risk Value Chain: Who is Responsible for What?\" at the IAPP Europe Data Protection Congress.
Together with Anahita Valakche, Karolina Gałęzowska and Rocio de la Cruz, the Supervisor discussed the regulatory compliance regime for providers of high-risk AI systems as well as the data protection responsibilities along the value chain from GPAI vendor to final deployer.
The withdrawal of the proposed AI Liability Directive has left a significant gap in the EU’s approach to redress, accountability and legal certainty.
Wojciech Wiewiórowski said: \"The most important challenge is regulatory uncertainty. The stakeholders are now faced with navigating a fragmented landscape of national standards and conflicting legal interpretations. This environment fosters inconsistency in liability assessment, creating operational and compliance ambiguities, particularly when AI systems are involved.\"
The EDPS advocates that victims of damage caused by AI have (now and in the future) access to effective remedies that safeguard their rights and supports the need to avoid leaving them at a disadvantage vis-a-vis deployers and providers. Effective liability rules provide an economic incentive to comply with safety rules and therefore contribute to preventing the occurrence of damage. Similarly, effective legal remedies are also key to promote accountability and safety as a way to fostering trustworthy AI.
\"I believe that a harmonised and directly applicable EU approach would offer the most coherent solution, adapting non-contractual civil liability rules to AI and establishing a single, consistent regime that safeguards both innovation and individuals’ rights\" added the Supervisor.
