What we perceive as time is the universe expanding. if the universe stopped expanding, time would also stop.

@Downes @lauraritchie I vividly remember taking a first year astronomy course and studying theories of the universe — I was fascinated by the idea of the universe eventually stopping it’s expansion and starting to contract, and would that mean that time would run in reverse. And would *that* mean that the totality of events up to that point would repeat in reverse… Not to mention, what happens when it all collapses into a single point and subsequently explodes in a new big bang. Is it all new, or will things repeat again…?
Quite mind-blowing for an 18-year old.
Come to think of it, it’s still fun to speculate at 58.
