d4doome<p>Yoshiaki Kawajiri's 1993 anime Ninja Scroll combines action, adventure, swordplay, fantasy, horror, outrageous imagery and perverse eroticism. Ninjas battling demons! A lady ninja whose body kills any man who sleeps with her! A must-see movie.</p><p>My review: <a href="https://princeplanetmovies.blogspot.com/2024/09/ninja-scroll-1993.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">princeplanetmovies.blogspot.co</span><span class="invisible">m/2024/09/ninja-scroll-1993.html</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/gothichorror" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gothichorror</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/ninjas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ninjas</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Japanesecinema" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Japanesecinema</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Japanesemovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Japanesemovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Japanesemovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Japanesemovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/vampiremovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vampiremovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/vampiremovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vampiremovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/cultmovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cultmovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/cultmovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cultmovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/70smovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>70smovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/70smovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>70smovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/1970smovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>1970smovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/1970smovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>1970smovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/YoshiakiKawajiri" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>YoshiakiKawajiri</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/anime" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>anime</span></a></p>
d4doome<p>Lake of Dracula (1971), 2nd film in the Bloodthirsty Trilogy, starts with a dream. Then the dream events seem to really happen. And opening coffins is always a bad idea. There are vampires, and Dracula is involved in directly. Not a bad movie.</p><p>My review: <a href="https://princeplanetmovies.blogspot.com/2024/09/lake-of-dracula-1971.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">princeplanetmovies.blogspot.co</span><span class="invisible">m/2024/09/lake-of-dracula-1971.html</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/gothichorror" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gothichorror</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/vampires" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vampires</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Japanesecinema" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Japanesecinema</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Japanesemovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Japanesemovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Japanesemovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Japanesemovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/vampiremovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vampiremovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/vampiremovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vampiremovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/cultmovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cultmovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/cultmovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cultmovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/70smovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>70smovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/70smovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>70smovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/1970smovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>1970smovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/1970smovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>1970smovies</span></a></p>
d4doome<p>Antonio Margheriti’s Web of the Spider is a colour remake of his excellent 1964 Castle of Blood. With Klaus Kinski as Edgar Allan Poe! A good slightly offbeat gothic horror film featuring ghosts (sort of) and a nice aesthetic. Cool ending.</p><p>My review: <a href="https://princeplanetmovies.blogspot.com/2024/09/web-of-spider-1971.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">princeplanetmovies.blogspot.co</span><span class="invisible">m/2024/09/web-of-spider-1971.html</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/70smovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>70smovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/70smovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>70smovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/1970smovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>1970smovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/1970smovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>1970smovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/gothichorror" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gothichorror</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/AntonioMargheriti" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AntonioMargheriti</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/eurocult" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eurocult</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/eurocultmovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eurocultmovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/eurocultmovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eurocultmovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/KlausKinski" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KlausKinski</span></a></p>
d4doome<p>This will upset Fulci fans but I really disliked his 1972 giallo Don’t Torture a Duckling (1972). And in general I'm a major Fulci fan. The right ingredients and a fine cast. Florinda Bolkan is excellent. It just didn't come together for me.</p><p>My review: <a href="https://princeplanetmovies.blogspot.com/2024/08/dont-torture-duckling-1972-rewatch.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">princeplanetmovies.blogspot.co</span><span class="invisible">m/2024/08/dont-torture-duckling-1972-rewatch.html</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/70smovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>70smovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/70smovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>70smovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/1970smovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>1970smovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/1970smovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>1970smovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/LucioFulci" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LucioFulci</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/giallo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>giallo</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/gialli" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gialli</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/BarbaraBouchet" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BarbaraBouchet</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/eurocult" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eurocult</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/eurocultmovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eurocultmovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/eurocultmovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eurocultmovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/TomasMilian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TomasMilian</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/FlorindaBolkan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FlorindaBolkan</span></a></p>

The original Airport (1970) is quite different from the sequels. It isn't a disaster movie as such. It's an aviation thriller (and a good one) but mostly it's a typical Ross Hunter-produced melodrama. And it's thoroughly enjoyable melodrama.

Looking for Mr Goodbar (1977), a failure but an interesting one which misses the point of the source novel rather badly. It's at least an attempt to deal with female sexuality but loses its nerve. Diane Keaton is great. Flawed but worth a look.
