For me the Ubuntu login sound is a core memory. I remember installing 11.04 on a spare laptop in the middle of a night and being greeted by this really refreshing and iconic sound of percussion instruments. The sound was designed by a Ubuntu community member named Peter Savage. Sadly Ubuntu dropped login sounds after 12.04. Sometimes I just search and listen to it, just to re-live the moment. After all it is where I started my Linux journey.
