I had just gotten started with medium format and had a temporary solution for a darkroom; when I suddenly was notified about a #4x5 enlarger that was about to be taken to the junkyard. Naturally my instinct was to rescue it.
I didn’t quite realise the extent of the consequences. everything is more more more. Since I found cheap lot of unused 16 x 20 fibre paper, which requires bigger wash basin, dry racks, heat press (would be nice) good optics light table et cetera.
And obviously film and the camera. So I restored an old Linhof Technika, had it in atoms and got the lens back together and it works, nicely.
Slowly getting there two years later. So i got myself a nice magnifying glass for my birthday, nice option to the cheap loupe I have. Will mainly use it for service of al the camera gear. Well. This spring I’ll shoot some #streetphoto in 4x5 and see where I end up with the printing :)
Luckily the fiddling is also kind of fun.

…I’m slowly moving over here from Instagram ( @pluzi )
Amy was the first female skateboarder I ever photographed. We skated with the locals at Skatopia Skatepark in the 1970s. Eventually, Amy joined the Vans team, and for a while, she wasn’t around Skatopia as much. I saw her again in high school, but after that, decades passed before our paths crossed at a skatepark once more. Now in our 50s, we’re back to skating with our crew, just like old times. There’s something about skating with the locals that only a skater truly understands. But the beauty of skateboarding is that if you keep showing up to a spot, session after session, eventually—you will find your locals. #4x5 #photography #skateboarding
Who doesn’t love the gear acquisition bug?? May have treated myself to a #Linhof Technika to save lugging the heavier thing around for some quicker shots. So far I love it but the lens it came with has a few limitations and some really nice quirks.

Test photos on expired film and it’s come out nice. The Carisbrooke castle photo is on my trusty but heavy AF monorail Toyo. Must. Develop. The. Slide. Film. I keep blaming the delay in processing on needing a million bottles for the chemicals (it’s not cheap, doesn’t keep and mixes in the wrong final amount for me). That’s my excuse, and I’m sticking with it, and it’s nothing to do with a total loss of confidence in myself on that front.

Must remember focussing loupe though. That’s essential. 🤦
