Considering attending one of the two national #geoscience meeings: the #GSA or the #AGU ? Graphed is the registration cost (member early-bird) for these meetings, compared to the US inflation rate. These meetings are now too costly to attend for many, especially since grants haven't matched the inflation rate.

This year due to location (GSA: Texas, AGU: Louisiana) there is the added cost of emergency evacuation insurance for those who can't get health care in these states.

Die Amerikanische Geophysikalische Vereinigung #AGU hat Veronika Eyring – Professorin für Klimamodellierung an der #UniBremen und Wissenschaftlerin am Deutschen Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) – jetzt mit dem AGU Ambassador Award ausgezeichnet.

David & team analyzed 1982-2016 data to show how snow droughts are increasing GPP extremes, with hotspots in Central North America, Eastern Europe, & Eastern China. Huge thanks to for hosting & to all for the enriching conversations!

I’ll be at the AGU for parts of this week! Let me know if you’d like to connect to chat about NASA, data, open source software, or open science!

Or come by the session on Friday on A Vision for What’s Next: NASA Evolving Data, Software, and Science
