David Schultz<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@AenBleidd" class="u-url mention">@<span>AenBleidd</span></a></span> Hey, I don't know if I'm the first to propose this, but:</p><p>There should be a module to automatically turn <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/BOINC" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>BOINC</span></a> on and off depending on the current supply situation of (green) electricity in one's local grid, e.g. by querying for current local KWh price.</p><p>Effects: 1. Fewer CO₂ emissions, 2. Fewer costs for people with smart meters, 3. Old hardware stays cost-effective longer, 4. At scale, more renewables can be added to the grid without wasting their capacity during peaks.</p><p>Cheers</p>
