Prof. Sam Lawler<p>I decided to put the 2 biggest mamas into a barn stall. One of them is possibly in early labour, but it's so hard to tell. I just sat there in the hay, listening to them chew their cud, and practiced my extremely short talk for tomorrow. They were unimpressed with what I have to say about space debris. Going to give it one more day, but I'm not hopeful. Will try the countdown again in 3 weeks, with a new incubator we just bought.</p>

Fortunately the stars were amazing at 2am and the Earth's shadow was high enough that there were no visible satellites!</p><p>I'm 75% sure that I heard a peep from the incubator when I checked just now, so maybe the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/FediverseChickCountdown" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>FediverseChickCountdown</span></a> won't be a total bust!</p>

Prof. Sam Lawler<p>Very pleasant day of talking to family (including talking my parents through setting up Signal, yay), cooking projects, watching a movie (one upside to a shitty weather day), and saying hello to all the crows who apparently migrated back here today.</p><p>Mama goats are in the barn for <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/BabyGoatCountdown" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>BabyGoatCountdown</span></a> (4 days), and my incubator is only running 1 degree cold currently so maybe the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/FediverseChickCountdown" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>FediverseChickCountdown</span></a> will still be happening? I'm guessing at least 1 day late (Monday, not tomorrow).</p>
