Zennor Quoit is a large portal tomb, a prehistoric chambered tomb, this one has an antechamber, close to Zennor in West Cornwall. The massive capstone, seen leaning at the back of the monument, weighs about 12½ tonnes or 12,500kg and is 5.5 x 2.8m. The quoit is seen from the front with the two large facade stones flanking the antechamber. The capstone leans to the right, having slipped in the mid-18th century. The granite stones are surrounded by deep green ferns and grass and a medium fog surrounds the whole area.

A colour photo of the chambered tomb, originally a Scillonian-type Entrance Grave which was turned into a kerbed cairn at some point, with part of the later cairn shown behind it. A large capstone can be seen covering the entrance to a dark burial chamber. The hill, Chapel Carn Brea, is named after a 13th century chapel to St Michael of Brea. The hill has great views over much of West Penwith.

A printed semi-modern colour postcard showing Hunebedden D54 at Havelte in the Netherlands. The prehistoric chambered tomb, built between 3400 and 3100 BC, has six capstones and measures 12.7 by 3.3 m. It stands in a small oval area of bare earth surrounded by short grass. The sky is bright blue with a few small fluffy clouds. It has never been excavated.

A printed semi-modern postcard showing the Pierre Couverte a la Frébouchère or Dolmen de la Frébouchère near Le Bernard in Vendée, Pays de la Loire. This Angevin-type dolmen is 7.2 m by 3.5 m or 23.5 ft by 11.5 ft, and 2 m or 6.5 ft high and has a massive single capstone, estimated to weigh above 80 tonnes, covering the whole length. The prehistoric burial chamber sits in a field of short green grass with a long line of trees immediately behind it. The sky is blue and cloudless.

A vintage postcard showing the Table des Marchands, a prehistoric chambered tomb at Locmariaquer in Brittany, construced in about 4000BC. A young girl sits on the enormous 65 ton capstone while an even younger couple of children are to the side. The stones on the inside of the chamber and the underside of the capstone are carved with several ornate petroglyphs. The monument has now been restored and looks very different today.

A vintage printed monochrome postcard showing a young girl sitting by the entrance to the Dolmen de Mané-Kerioned at Carnac in Brittany. One of three passage graves at the site which were all originally covered by a single large mound. The stones of the interior have several carvings or petroglyphs, including snakes, axes and chequered patterns. A green 5c stamp is at the bottom left corner, postally cancelled in 1907.

The massive capstone sits on several short uprights, two of which have cupmarks, and the ground around the low entrance has been worn away. The dolmen was excavated in 1872 and is now in the corner of a garden surrounded by gravel and modern wooden fences.
