@GeePawHill Finally found the time and energy to backup my data and migrate to Debian stable. Way less drama than expected. Debian's installer is delightfully minimalist and gets the job done. The installer lowers your expectations a bit by being so thin, but once logged in, it feels polished. I haven't used Debian in a few years and my laptop runs so much faster than it did with Fedora. #debian #linux #gnome

Every time I need to check the Adw1 API docs for something I'm writing, whenever I search "libadwaita", the first result is this biased article that summarizes to "hurr durr, libadwaita bad, gnome bad". It even appears before the official repos and docs.
I find incredible that for almost 15 years, Linux-bloggers and Linux-influencers have been trying to tell the GNOME devs and maintainers how to do their job. Just move on with your life.

Хочу три очень простые фичи в gnome-shell-pomodoro, но не знаю с какой стороны подступиться, чтобы её добавить.
Первая: хочу при запуске выбирать длину помидорины, по дефолту пусть будет то что в конфиге прописано.

- 30 минут
- 45 минут
- 60 минут
Вторая: прописывать текстом чем именно я сейчас планирую заняться.
Третья: чтобы при завершении интервала тулза не только предлагала сделать перерыв, а спрашивала - сделал или нет. Если нет - продолжаем с тем же текстом после отдыха. Если да - просим ввести новый текст.
Может есть что-то готовое, что _уже_ удовлетворяет моим хотелкам?

I installed Debian 12.10 on my laptop. Needed something stable and a bit older. Got tired of KDE Plasma (on Arch) and Gnome 48 has memory leaks. Apparently the leaks affect some computers but not others because my server monster is fine. I'm just surfing the web and checking email with this. A lot of SSH, too. Just tired of screwing with things for once.
@douglasvb I can answer only some of these, with my humble opinions:

What container environment should I run? I see there are several.
Should I have the containers on a separate partition, and also another separate partition for data storage?
I'll also be running Windows 10 and Windows 11 virtual machines. Anything I should know about that?
How does disk encryption work? I've been using Bitlocker with Windows. What should I do in Debian?
For years I have been a heavy gVim user when it comes to news editing, and today I started using Vim in a GNOME terminal. It's going very well. I might stick with it.
