The more I tinker around with #LXDE the more I like it.
The fact it can run on a potato and what is quintessentially e-waste, makes it super neat.
CDE was a bust on the Mango Pi Quad. I did a fresh install of #Debian server. After updates, I did a full #LXDE install.
So far with I am averaging between 22% to 40% of ram use while running multiple programs.
Due to issues with #flatpak and #snap not showing up, I am going to keep this a purely Debian repo set up.
Things are looking good. The LXDE website wasn’t kidding when they said their DE could run on a potato
Installing gentoo on my second laptop. I don't know why I'm like this. Going with LXDE desktop on this one.
Enjoying this new install of #Linux #Mint 22 with #LXDE, building some audio software from source to get newest versions, #Pipewire is running the best I've had it so far, feels responsive #linuxaudio
Found an obscure #Linux #distro #side that appears to be unique. That is, makes its own toolchain, which is what crazy from #frugalware said defines a base distro. Side uses #pisi package manager, #sysvinit and features #LXDE based #SDE with #pekwm or #openbox window manager.
These odd little distros generally help #inxi find and handle corner cases it had missed. In this case didn't have pisi pm/SDE handled.
Wish I'd noticed side before inxi 3.3.37 went out but this always happens.
Hello, @ecosdelfuturo. It's mainly because I like things to go really, really fast, so I like #LXDE, #OpenBox, etc.; I'll be running OpenBox on #Ubuntu too. I just hope I can get my #TPLink AC600 #WiFi dongle working without too much hassle on at least one of them. Okay, Ubuntu finally downloaded, now I can copy the last #distro to my #Ventoy #USB stick. Then it's boot time!
LXDE is working perfectly well and barely makes a dent in my system resources. However, I've been having one annoyance: I switch between single and dual monitors quite a lot, and inevitably when I'm in single monitor mode, my windows start appearing in the out-of-screen space I can't reach. Including anything I might use to resolve the problem.
I looked everywhere and couldn't find a simple "move window" command (Alt-drag doesn't work since you have to be on the window to do it). Eventually, this Stack Overflow answer provided a simple way to add one with a small configuration file tweak to Openbox.

I like Gnome and KDE desktop environments. But my main machine uses Cinnamon. Thanks to all the FOSS people, that create such great DEs for all the people. The option to chose from so many means freedom.
