Just watched the New Horizons Symphony production of Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana".

One highlight was conductor Stephanie Reyes ACING the first half, easily the best direction I've ever heard of this music. Second half was also strong.

Another highlight was the Coro Infantile Saleciano de Juárez, a young girl's choir from south of the border, coming in and singing second half.

The standing ovation just didn't stop.

After his snap firing of athletics director Mario Moccia, NMSU president Valerio Ferme seemed to be bracing for a lawsuit as he took questions from reporters alongside acting athletics director Amber Burdge.

New Mexico State University is still making their candidates for president stand up in the dark with a projection screen lit up behind them, so they are backlit.

I pointed out the theatre lights mounted over our heads and was told a ladder was not handy so the lights would remain off. And they did.

It’s New Mexico State University. They have lots of buildings. Lots of rooms. Many of them with lighting. This is so odd.

Santa Fe is getting involved in the NMSU executive search. Garrey Carruthers has emerged to defend the regents and tell Santa Fe to butt out. And Arsenio Romero stood for questions on campus today — in the dark. It’s getting weird.

About a dozen people were arrested, detained or removed by law enforcement agencies at New Mexico State University’s Las Cruces campus Thursday evening after a group of protesters, angry over the death toll and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, held a sit-in for two hours.
