So... not a topic getting much interest, let me decide by myself.

Not a DoS as requests are coming every other second... not blocked by fail2ban as IP's are numerous and changing... not causing any trouble, I don't see what they can achieve by doing this as requests seem legitimate and reading random posts... but clearly not human nor social interactions, so undesirable. Maybe scraping content for AI training?

I will block the offending IP's this evening. This should not affect our other Singaporean users, who, let's be honest, are (understandably) not very many. Nor will it affect federation as user agent is voluntarily misleading.

I encourage other administrators to monitor this kind of case and to take action if necessary. Let's try and avoid scraping bots when we can.

Mah dubito, sta su un'istanza di Nostr, «Nostr is primarily popular with cryptocurrency communities, primarily Bitcoin users. Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter, has endorsed and financially supported the development of Nostr by donating approximately $250,000 worth of bitcoin to the developers of the project», en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nostr

1. Thinking that discovery flag set to false should be a general opt-out, for sure. Question, is there a user level way to query a profile for how the discovery flag is set?

2. A user might not what to set the discovery flag false, but still does not want to be included in packs. The idea to have a #NoPacks (or #NoBots) flag in the profile seems like a good one, unless and until such a flag could be integrated into the app.

I'm Justin, I make drawings I post on my website sometimes (onemuri.nl)

Am a NEET trying to survive in crapitalism, me and the labor market mutually hate each other

In my free time I draw, play games on my Wii/3DS or do my Dutch dailies so I can hold up a convo in that language

I moved from my other account on Mirage because I wanted a new username :neocat_smol:

You may know me as the guy who made the Nijntje emojis :miffy:, Neobun :neobun: and the legacy Neorat and PICMO packs

I prefer only 18+ people follow me but others are welcome to interact unless otherwise stated

If you find me outside Fedi no you didn't <3

Please read bio before following. I may reject you if you follow from generalist instances like mastodon.online or .social and you also are a generally "normal and bland" person, sorry

Also blocking people in support of generative AI that steals the labor from creatives

Do not police who I interact with unless you got serious reasoning and proper evidence for their crimes

@ondrejsevcik copyright? You do. But you consent to it being quoted around and copied to all parts of the fediverse, implicitly independent of protocol. You may also consent to indexing, in your mastodon settings. You may explicitly exclude bots and protocol bridges from these consents via the #NoBots and #NoBridges hashtags --- though that is social consent. The actual legal consent here depends on the country, of course. But you almost always have copyright of your own posts.

The mastodon non-profit does not own anything besides mastodon.social.

To give the public domain copyright rights, you must explicitly say so.

смысла в @ru и @rf — нет. в мастадоне есть встроенная лента с фильтром языка: (с сайта) настройки → остальное → публичные ленты, фильтр языков

также с @local. ленту можно настроить на показ постов только с вашего инстанса регистрации

You really ought to read article again.
Massive data extraction through has been happening for years:

mastodon.social/@HistoPol/1115

The only real defense is complete anonymity and deleting old posts after a week or so (the latter being unacceptable to me.)

Someone has been creating a meta- for the . He respects (and something else.)

Don't recall the name @ present.
