Back in 2006, when some companies had ancient systems and didn't want to upgrade to Windows XP, they turned to a lesser-known alternative (and no, it wasn't Linux). https://mindsconnected.tech/index.php?showtopic=1106&view=getnewpost #windows #windowsnt #winflp #legacysystems #operatingsystem #os #software #tech

What a shame. Otherwise it's probably my favourite #Mastodon #app on any #OS

OK, I thought about it and I think I would embrace using #Docker or a similar container system if it would be integrated in the OS very well. If I could drag and drop an app into a container, adjust "permissions" of containers in a simple #GUI list, etc.
Yes, I know of the advantages of CLIs but it's easier to get used to a new concept with visual clicky UIs. And since I don't have a real need for docker, nothing is pushing me over the hurdle to start getting used to the necessary commands.
I guess this sort of #OS integration only comes in the form of restricting single app containers with mandatory use of closed app stores, like on iOS. But there are can be a middle way, as various open app stores for #Android show. That's not like Docker though and I wouldn't want to switch to a system that requires those containers any time soon.
