@sue the em dash always reminds me of one of my favourite Wendy Cope #poems:

Higgledy-piggledy
Emily Dickinson
Liked to use dashes
Instead of full stops.

Nowadays, faced with such

Send for the cops.

While walking along a pedestrian path, I saw two elephants from the Karlsruhe Zoo holding each other's trunks. The image reminded me of a poem by Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral:
Give me your hand and we'll dance.
Give me your hand and you'll love me.
Like a single flower, we'll be.
Like a flower and nothing more. Well, in this case, it would be: give me your trunk.

Too Tired

Sometimes, when I feel
I bear more years than this flesh
can count, I seek dreams;
there, forgotten, a pagan
past weighs heavy, on today.

True, I’m not alone,
in those æthyreal days,
where blood and fire mix;
but stars seem colder, now, and
Selene weeps more freely.

I feel I have loved
so long, through ages of fear,
and have learned nothing;
how many lives am I cursed,
to let our hearts turn to ash?
