serenebabe<p>Yesterday and today my body didn&#39;t give me a choice. I&#39;ve had to rest. The overall body pain has been nearly unbearable (message in to my rheumatologist). I thought maybe it was the flu but I don&#39;t have much of a fever. Not covid.</p><p>Even just the little bit of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/TheNapMinistry" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TheNapMinistry</span></a>&#39;s message that rest is resistance helped me feel not guilty about listening to my body. Too tired and in pain to hold up my phone to type yesterday. Not good.</p><p>Rest!</p>
serenebabe<p>When I was up before the sun this morning, I listened to a bit of Rest is a Resistance: A Manifesto, by Tricia Hersey. After just about a half hour, I noticed I was feeling tired. I thought, why not go back to bed? (So many internal voices already shaming me!) I slept for more than two hours!</p><p>This is not the sleep of untreated depression. (I&#39;ve experienced that.) This is a commitment to practicing &quot;rest as a radical act&quot; as described by the creator of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/TheNapMinistry" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TheNapMinistry</span></a> (Tricia Hersey).</p>

I was just looking to see if The Nap Ministry is on mastodon. No sign, yet, but I hope she comes over here! <a href="https://thenapministry.wordpress.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">thenapministry.wordpress.com/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/TheNapMinistry" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TheNapMinistry</span></a></p>

Siona<p>"I believe <a href="https://spore.social/tags/rest" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rest</span></a> is a form of resistance because it pushes back and disrupts <a href="https://spore.social/tags/capitalism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>capitalism</span></a> and <a href="https://spore.social/tags/WhiteSupremacy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WhiteSupremacy</span></a>. It is an active way of pushing back and disrupting these toxic <a href="https://spore.social/tags/systems" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>systems</span></a>. And it’s actually just pushing back and saying, 'You can’t have me.' It’s a politics of refusal."</p><p><a href="https://spore.social/tags/restisresistance" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>restisresistance</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/thenapministry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>thenapministry</span></a></p><p><a href="https://atmos.earth/rest-resistance-colonization-black-liberation/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">atmos.earth/rest-resistance-co</span><span class="invisible">lonization-black-liberation/</span></a></p>
Siona<p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://mstdn.social/@ShmosKnows" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>ShmosKnows</span></a></span> The entirety of Tricia's work, I think, is what most spoke to me-- from her connecting grind culture to colonialism and white supremacism to the deep and obvious care she has for other human beings to how adamant she is that certain things (including cultural healing) require patience and time. But it's all so radically deep and brilliant. I'm on my third read-through of her book already-- so sane-making; so necessary.</p><p><a href="https://spore.social/tags/restisresistance" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>restisresistance</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/thenapministry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>thenapministry</span></a></p>
serenebabe<p>I am absolutely over the moon! I found out today through an interview with the founder/creator that The Nap Ministry is not only for Black people! I have stayed away because I read somewhere that it wasn’t meant for white people. I am so drawn to this movement, this radical transformative practice. Capitalism and white supremacy together are killing us.</p><p>Does anyone know if she is on mastodon anywhere? It doesn’t look like it on her twitter account.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/TheNapMinistry" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TheNapMinistry</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rest" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>rest</span></a></p>
