Glen<p>woops bought a <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/watchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>watchy</span></a> and now I'm back on mastodon</p>
Rexx Deane 🏳️‍🌈<p>If anyone's interested, I've listed my <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Watchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Watchy</span></a> epaper watch on ebay (UK).</p><p>I bought it and didn't realise it would look quite so large on my thin wrists, nor that I wouldn't have the time to get geeky with it.</p><p><a href="https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156700451005" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">ebay.co.uk/itm/156700451005</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
Alex Petcoglo<p>Apparently Aliexpress now has clones (knock offs?) of the Watchy smartwatch (<a href="https://watchy.sqfmi.com" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">watchy.sqfmi.com</span><span class="invisible"></span></a>).</p><p><a href="https://aliexpress.com/item/1005007038125929.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">aliexpress.com/item/1005007038</span><span class="invisible">125929.html</span></a></p><p><a href="https://social.lol/tags/watchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>watchy</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/smartwatch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>smartwatch</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/aliexpress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>aliexpress</span></a></p>
Flippin' 'eck, Tucker!<p>Now updated to be running the VERY BEST watch face.<br><a href="https://social.chatty.monster/tags/sqfmi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sqfmi</span></a> <a href="https://social.chatty.monster/tags/Watchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Watchy</span></a></p><p>Watch face from <a href="https://github.com/b-bayport/watchy_captnwednesday" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/b-bayport/watchy_ca</span><span class="invisible">ptnwednesday</span></a> but if like me you've got one of the recent Watchys you'll need to make a few minor changes to <code>settings.h</code>. I'll push my fork/changes to a repo at some point soonish.</p>
Fell<p>And since I already brought my tools, I ended the day in true techie-fashion by dismantling my Watchy e-paper watch by <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.online/@sqfmi" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>sqfmi</span></a></span> to figure out why some of the buttons don't work. To my surprise, it's not worn-out buttons, it's CORROSION. AAAH!</p><p>I also love how the back side of the e-paper display has inverted colours.</p><p>Anyways, time for bed.</p><p><a href="https://ma.fellr.net/tags/FOSDEM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FOSDEM</span></a> <a href="https://ma.fellr.net/tags/Watchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Watchy</span></a> <a href="https://ma.fellr.net/tags/eInk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eInk</span></a> <a href="https://ma.fellr.net/tags/ePaper" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ePaper</span></a> <a href="https://ma.fellr.net/tags/Smartwatch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Smartwatch</span></a></p>
Jules Enriquez<p>Pushing the Watchy to the limit by bringing it all the way to the Arctic! Rather surprised with how well the E-Ink screen is performing, even when the temperature fell down to -10°C earlier. </p><p><a href="https://scalie.zone/tags/watchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>watchy</span></a> <a href="https://scalie.zone/tags/eink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eink</span></a> <a href="https://scalie.zone/tags/watch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>watch</span></a></p>
Flippin' 'eck, Tucker!<p>I couldn't wait until the weekend. It took probably no more than 30 minutes to actually assemble the watch. No soldering, just clicking a few bits into place.</p><p>I'll play with customisation and stuff later.<br><a href="https://social.chatty.monster/tags/SQFMI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SQFMI</span></a> <a href="https://social.chatty.monster/tags/watchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>watchy</span></a></p>

Nick<p><a href="https://biketoot.com/tags/watchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Watchy</span></a> update:<br><br>Managed to get a strap to fit in the 'slim' case. Have installed Brainworks for watchy which allows you to have multiple watch faces with dark/light modes too. Have edited which ones i want on it &amp; removed the step counter. Damon L. Wakes<p>I made some tiny tweaks to my Cistercian numerals watch face. The date and step count numerals are now just a little bit bolder, and there's finally a way to see the remaining battery power on screen: that thin black border around the edge will gradually shrink into the corners as it drains.</p><p>I finally thought to take a photo towards the end of the day when the time numeral is fairly complex!<br><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/ESP32" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ESP32</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/CPP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CPP</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/Watchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Watchy</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/watch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>watch</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/Cistercian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cistercian</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/CistercianNumerals" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CistercianNumerals</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/programming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>programming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/microcontroller" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>microcontroller</span></a></p>
Damon L. Wakes<p>My Cistercian watch face is basically finished! I've added numerals for date and step count, and tweaked the style of the diagonal lines (though I may tinker with that further). The one thing left is to add some way of displaying remaining battery life, but that'll likely be a bar rather than a numeral. Amusingly, this is two years to the day since my previous attempt at this project: <a href="https://damonwakes.itch.io/hibernation-hassle" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">damonwakes.itch.io/hibernation</span><span class="invisible">-hassle</span></a><br><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/ESP32" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ESP32</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/CPP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CPP</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/Watchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Watchy</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/watch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>watch</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/Cistercian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cistercian</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/CistercianNumerals" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CistercianNumerals</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/programming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>programming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/microcontroller" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>microcontroller</span></a></p>
Damon L. Wakes<p>I've improved my Cistercian watch face. I found the first version a little hard to read at an angle because of the chunky frame of the Watchy's aluminium case, so I've reduced the overall size of the numeral and beefed up the thickness of the lines. One downside is that the diagonal lines (not shown) are now a little too chunky, but that's okay because the style should be much easier to adjust in future.<br><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/ESP32" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ESP32</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/CPP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CPP</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/Watchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Watchy</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/watch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>watch</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/Cistercian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cistercian</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/CistercianNumerals" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CistercianNumerals</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/programming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>programming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/microcontroller" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>microcontroller</span></a></p>
Damon L. Wakes<p>A while back, I made a Bitsy Jam game about trying and not quite managing to make a watch that displays the time in Cistercian numerals: <a href="https://damonwakes.itch.io/hibernation-hassle" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">damonwakes.itch.io/hibernation</span><span class="invisible">-hassle</span></a></p><p>Almost two years on, I'm happy to say that I've finally done it! I'd still like to add a battery indicator (and if I'm feeling really fancy, numerals for the date and a step counter), but I'm quite happy with the minimalist look of this as-is.<br><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/ESP33" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ESP33</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/CPP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CPP</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/Watchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Watchy</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/watch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>watch</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/Cistercian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cistercian</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/CistercianNumerals" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CistercianNumerals</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/programming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>programming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/microcontroller" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>microcontroller</span></a></p>
Sebastian<p>I'm thinking tonight might be for working on programming my watchface. I'm going to remove the weather feature and do something more fun with the step counter I think.</p><p>If anyone knows of a reliable way to add the ISO week number I'd be glad to know.</p><p><a href="https://skrivel.se/tags/watchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>watchy</span></a></p>
