Kitami as a healer. By day she is often healing those with minor injuries, infected wounds, light sicknesses, or in an extreme instance helping a patient stay stable during a surgery. She maybe known as the wife of a former human to her coworkers, but she is incredibly proud of her skills with her healing magic. Sure, she might not be the star or the popular one, but she's happy to just try to help those the best she can.

It's that time of the year once more, to celebrate the creation of the first ever Original Character of mine. And when doing so this year, I realized I never really depicted her using her magic. That sounds weird but yeah, no other images shows her using it. Luckily with making the element icons years ago I had a stronger idea of what to make with her magic. Went with a classic underwater scene with some new brushes involved. I also made Kitami's tail a little redder due to the original color looking a little off and too light in a bland way. Tho I'm SOOO happy with the eyes, complete MM-style eyes but they look so beautiful! And the magic, it's nature/greenery inspired but looks so beautilful and... well.. magical!

I keep trying to get art made for Shark week and I JUST KEEP MISSING! XD; Oh well, Thaliatha needed a piece of art piece after a long while. I wanted to showcase something that shows the sharkfolks' strength and ended up going with literally lifting a big fish out of the water. The angle was not the greatest but I'm more or less happy with just the fact I got this made.

With Month of OCs put on hold, I decided to take part in ArtFight, especially after finding out what the themese were this year. The goal being to turn any OC on team stardust into merfolk (Seafoam shale reign supreme!) I wanted to draw Jack first, not only because I've been seeing him a lot on BlueSky but also since KID helped create a really nice Artists Server. I really liked how it came out, the hand placement that was originally for moving his hair away, but after looking more closely at the do's and don'ts I decided to keep the pose but draw the hair over it... somehow it felt more moody XD; Went a bit more generic with the tail but the brown (of his suit) and orange (of his prison attire) oddly work really well!

Looks like we got a fun case of a trilogy commission here, if you don't know this was a sequel to "[COMM] An Eerie Rescue." The commission wanted them in a room related to Zelda (merform), the three on top of a clam bed with them cuddling. I added some bandages to Samus, just to indicate she is healing tho I forgot to add a bit more detail. I do enjoy the cuddling of the three a lot tho!

While out with the rest of the girls (Cynthia, Sakura and Fictilia), Arura found a nice spot to sit down and relax. At first she was able to just watch the sky and clouds go by, allowing her to just see and ponder with the silence around her. Tho it would not be long before antics arose and she would have to intervene. A good time to relax none the less.

This was mostly just a way to help fill out the list but I still really like how this came out! I think the idea came from me wanting to give more of the MerLesbianHarem attires, and in this case it was Arura's swimsuit. I decided to go with her tail color with elements of her metallic blue. Tho the seaweed straps and the fishnet part were scraped more or less to keep it more simple, and it felt like there just for the sake of being there. For the most part, this piece is rather simple but I'm just happy to draw Arura more!

In the middle of the night, Caden and Drake decided to take a stroll down the beach while no one was around. It's almost been a year since the two started dating at this point and Drake was feeling like they had to let Caden know. They went into the ocean an emeged in their merform, revealing what they felt like as secret. Caden smiled and joined them in the water, also revealing himself as a merman. Drake asked why Caden didn't tell him, with Caden wanting Drake to feel comfortable when they wanted to show their tail. Drake felt happy but couldn't stop themselves from crying, not really used to this kindness. Caden hugged them under the moonlight, comforting them, before sharing their first kiss.

This was an idea I had for a very long time, the first kiss between Drake and Caden. Originally I was going to commission someone to make this, but a combination of not having enough funds for a long while to have someone do it justice, and becoming personally more confident in my artistic abilities. I had such a hard time making the kiss line-up and the posing but my god was it so worth it! I always had the idea with the moon being big and encomphasing the two's kiss. I absolutely love the shading and the rim shine is so goregeous, made sure to get as much as the open areas. A later edition was the glow of the magic tattoos which I almost forgot about until I was looking back at the references, the best part is just the glows against the surfaces around them, it made it feel much more alive in a way. I am so glad I was able to make this moment come to life, and it feels so precious.~

In that time, so much has happened yet so much flew by; the majority of her time was spent within a prison of wishes; and yet when she was freed, time seemed to slow down and accelerate at the same time. Moments, both feeling meaningful and yet withering. The few things grounding her is her foster families, Aaron and a feeling of duty to protect and to use her powers for good. But one thing that seems to radiate in her mind, the one advice that rings loudly: Don't Fear

When making the list, I was listening to "Don't Fear (The Reaper)" and something about it stuck with me and inspired this piece. While the reason for using Claudia was inspired by the OC Ballot, I also felt it fit her character. I can't remember the exact visual inspiration but I definitely wanted it to be monochrome and have the most detail in her eye(s). It was hard for me to find a good asset for the drop ripples, I knew I wanted it to enhance the mood with the pedals being a more late edition.

Sakura and Cynthia were dared by their friends to see how long they could last before they turned into their merform. Cynthia happily agreed and dragged Sakura into it. At first, they thought they were lucky, feeling like they were resisting the magic for a few seconds. Until they were caught off guard and transformed while standing. The two began frantically waving their arms, Sakrua looking embarrassed by the change and how she can't use any magic to keep her from falling face first, while Cynthia thought they might have had more time before changing. Either way, one way or another, they're going to fully soaked by the ocean.

While looking at H2O gifs on Tumblr (there is or was an account that kept posting gifs from the show), I ended up getting the idea from seeing something similar from one of the earlier episodes in season 1. It's a fun scene and I wanted to put Cynthia and Sakura in that scenario. It was nice getting kinda down how the magic change looks for the two, sure it might alter again but I do really like how this came out with the decaying spiral and the magic rim. It was also a really good idea to have the merform and the swimsuits on a different folder layer. Almost forget to do the flapping arms effect since this piece was on and off for a few weeks, but it helped so much with them trying to frantically keep standing.

Even though Sophie is getting use to her new mermaid form, there are some aspects of human life that she still enjoys and tries to keep doing. One of those things is showering. At first, it was a losing battle as shhe kept essencially flopping on the floor and unable to get out easily. But as time went on, she began using the shower more to relax than clean, as well as getting the strength to keep herself 'standing'. It's not always perfect, but to get that slice of a part of her life that almost felt impossible to recapture, it gets the job done and helped her refocus on to treat the act of showering.

Add this to the many ideas I so rarely see drawn and wanted to create! I get why, but those people have too much realism in their brains. XD I used Sophie here due to her winning the "Favorite New OC" in the OC Ballot of 2023, it honestly fit a bit thanks to her being more of a Mako Mermaid. Having her lay against the shower felt oddly nice, almost sauna-esk. I love how the shine on her came out and especially how her Mako features turned out! It wasn't an easy feat surprisingly but it was so worth the trial and error.

When making the list for June and onwards, I ended up getting frantic and putting together a few things. I ended up just grabbing Kenna from last year's OC Ballot winner and put her in swimsuit attire depicted by HydraGlenn. But I didn't want to stop there, I decided to also play with the Gaussian Blur brush and try to play with perspective and lighting. I love how this came out, especially with the hair strand that's looking like it's close to the viewer.

While Claudia and Aaron were traveling the US, they stopped at a costal town focused on fishing. While enjoying the food and culture, they found out a merfolk is destroying and put the town's livelyhood in jepordy. At first, the two were no match for the merfolk's magic and no good at water combat.
Days later, Claudia was trying her best to form her Mermaid form. She finally was able to do so, splashing out of the water in joy, before finally winning against the rouge merfolk.

This felt so ambitious yet both an idea I've had for a while and and for the OC Ballot winner. I knew I wanted Claudia depicted in her merform form as if it was the first time, the background and foreground splash were a struggle. I ended up making the background sort of fisheye'd lens which I think elevated the piece. I also adore the little Aaron in the corner, felt like that was very needed given the lore. Tho I am the most proud of the shading, it came out absolutely gorgeous and really help make this piece so great! There are some elements covered but I feel like the whole piece came together in the end to make something well Magical!

Mavis ended up being one of the first people I followed when I entered BlueSky, I believe it was just a quick search of "VTuber" or probably mermaid VTuber related. I've checked out Mavis's content here and there and I find it quite fun when I stop in every now and again. So for mermay, since I go for Merfolk Vtuber fanart I wanted to draw Mermaid Mavis.
I wanted to be careful and as respectful as I could going by Mavis's Fanart guidlines. And while I am really happy with the end result, let me know if there's anything I missed. I'm just really happy with how the shine came out here as well as how the sleeves turned out, it was a small but cool challenge. Same goes for the bra, as I noticed sort of similar effects on the model's bra.

I feel like I was looking forward to doing this commission for a while, not only because of the unique species but also the fact that I haven't gotten a soft shading art piece in quite a while. Back in 2023, I ended up encountering the people that run Imouri through a convention I like to help out with. I ended up really gravitating to it due to selling rather unique merch that stood out from the crowd there. I still like to order merch from then today. So when planning out 2024, this was the first fanart piece I planned out and wanted to make. It's more simple compated to others but I still love how it came out. The base colors just work so well, I love how the eyes came out too! The decision to use an orcatail was based on the leggings of the original design. The shellbra under the shirt was a spir of the moment but feels quite different.

Reiji, a hero rebirth throughout time, has been swimming throughout the ocean for a great many weeks. It's not long tho that he soon spots something, perhaps it is someone in need, a group of bad actors deciding to pick on those that can't defend themselves, or a creature filled with anger wanting to hurt others. Whatever the situation may be, he's willing to go in with a strong confidence and the magic by his side.

It feels this has been so long, too long, since the idea has been finally put to paper. When creating Reiji, he was always meant to be able to use his sword to channel the different magic elements, with the tattoos glowing. Finally I was able to finish this and the alternatives. I decided to go with Cel-Shading to help aid the variants. I love how the eyes came out especially, a beautiful hazel shade.

The idea for this came as soon as the debute stream popped up for Amalee's/Monarch's Version 3, a Siren version. Me and a friend of mine got big into her new design and I started the idea from there. I wanted to lean in to a more to a mystical villianeous-vibe, having a ball of water like a crystal ball as she leans in with glee. The trickiest part was the detail, It's not something I often draw but it proved to be a good challenge in the end. There was also the battle of the two light sources and trying to make those work within the space. I'm definitely proud of how this piece came out in the end, and even happy with the mini mermaid within the water sphere.

Claudia's time as a enslaved genie was a nightmare, a horror that would never end for a century until she was released from the shackles. But after her freedom, she needed to grow once more, with three people in her travels helping her. First was a runaway she was not able to get the name, the first person to give her kindness and the one that freed her before dying in her arms. The next was a magic user by Abigia, a teacher and a brief mother-figure who helped Claudia relearn magic, but was killed by what she would soon known as a Judge. The last was Caleb Hardy Sr, a police chief who helped taught her more about morality and justice before dying of old-age. These three people are forever in her mind, and have left an impact as large as any family.

Another art piece for the OC Ballot 2023 winner, this time it's a part of her lore that is barely shared. Originally, it ws going to be 9 people but over the years, I've decreased the amount to 3 after years of thinking it over. I'm really happy with how this came out, especially with Claudia's face, it just feels so joyful combared to the previous ones posted. I was wooried about how the headshots in the sky would look but I'm happy with how they eventually turned out. It's a simple piece but I swear it took half-a-month on and off to complete and I'm happy with how this came out!
