Aster's design has her roots in a really old dragon sketch I made when I was still a teenager. This one, from 2006.

The large eyes, long, flexible neck, and narrow snout stuck with me, and eventually became Aster. :)

So I've been doing a lot of drawings of Sable and Aster recently, but I realize not all of my followers may know where they're from, so I thought I'd go back to some old work and re-introduce them to the world a little. :)

Sable and Aster are the main characters in a tweenage graphic novel project of mine. Back in 2016 I made the first 13 pages and posted them to sableandaster.com/

They got their start a bit earlier than that, though; they were the subject of arguably the first proper comic project I ever made, for my first illustration class in college, in 2013. You can see that here: rheallart.tumblr.com/post/5512

After finishing that first comic the characters wouldn't leave my head. So now I have an outline somewhere and tens of thousands of words written for their story which may or may not ever happen. XD Ah, the creative process…!

Their story is currently on hiatus due to my on-going chronic health issues making it difficult to create, but that doesn't mean the project's dead; just delayed a while. :da_sweat:

#France, the #UK, and #Italy have ordered over 200 #Aster surface-to-air missiles from #Eurosam for their own stocks.

#Eurosam, which includes #MBDA_France, #MBDA_Italy, and #Thales, plans to boost missile production by 50% by 2026 and cut manufacturing time from 42 to under 18 months. Production facilities in #Seine_Saint_Denis, #France, are also being expanded to support this growth.

The #Aster missiles are the only #European-made interceptors capable of countering ballistic missiles.
