The entire native Chagossian population, the Ilois, were deported from Mauritius and the #Seychelles from 1965 to 1973 - a crime against humanity.
Meanwhile the Chagos archipelago, detached from Mauritius right before the latter gained independence in 1968, became the British Indian Ocean Territory (#BIOT) and the home to a #US military base.
Several BIOT islands had been returned to the Seychelles when they gained their independence in 1976.

This morning the UK has announced it will give up sovereignty of the British Indian Ocean Territory to Mauritius.

A force de pluie ... il y a eu un petit effondrement sur #Biot. A une semaine de la fête des Templiers. Misère.
Attention: précision ! Cette nuit, nous avons eu une coupure de courant, du coup pas de relevés entre minuit 30 et 9 heures du matin. Les données sont dans la station météo, mais pas dans "weewx" que vous voyez là. Je suis en train de rajouter manuellement les données de précipitations manquantes. Actuellement, nous en somme à +70mm de pluie sur la journée.

Actuellement c'est le procès de l'inondation meurtrière à l'Ehpad de #Biot . Pour moi c'est une faillite collective, et non pas cette seulement de l'ancienne Maire.
