It's not custom.</p><p>We aren't making a totally new protocol, we're describing a more organized way to store data on the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/willowprotocol" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>willowprotocol</span></a>.</p><p>Granted the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/willowprotocol" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>willowprotocol</span></a> is new and isn't <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/activitypub" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>activitypub</span></a>.</p>
