Martha Crimson<p>I wonder if they had to do a very late change of actors for Zhan's (the man's) role. His clothes look like they're made for a bulkier person, not like it's a planned lose-fit. For some reason this is also where the clothes department ran out of money. Master He's sister to the left wears sturdy fabric with structure, Zhan wears flimsy cotton with prints. The designer still managed to make something impressive. Wuxia is not a perfect source for historical clothing by any stretch, but afaik the pants are not a modern addition for convenience. People did wear them. You can see babyhair at her neck, meaning it's her own hair plus a massive amount of false dito woven together. They have basically taken an assembled hairdo and clipped it to her head. Some of the decorations are hiding the connection points. Martha Crimson<p>The reason I comment so much on costuming is I'm impressed of the variation the costumers manage to cram out of fairly simple clothes. Here three out of four people dressed in blue, but using different values they can still get a distinct difference between them. Martha Crimson<p>I can see one reason why Li Lianhua's clothes often look so comfy. The shoulder to sleeve seam on his top coat is down by his elbow, meaning the body of the piece is extremely wide. He's wearing the hanfu version of an oversized hoodie.</p><p>And a partyguan. It's not the bamboo twig anymore.
