I got almost nothing done yesterday, except for tidying and prepwork. Woke up today at 4.30 so now I've started cutting fabric for some todays sewing project (that will likely continue into tomorrow 😅). Now I'm taking a short break.

Also: I made a sale yesterday. I designed these little drawer style boxes last fall with magnets in them. Made to hold needles but also other small items. I just sold two 🙃

Been learning how to shuttle tat lace

The hardest part of it has honestly been giving myself permission to do it,

and then not getting caught up in how "good" or meritorious the finished pieces are.

Also working thru the worry that my creations have to be useful in some way or else they dont deserve to exist,

which of course touches feelings i have about myself & my usefulness/right to exist...

Anyway plz enjoy this snowflake

I am making a razor strop out of a vintage firehose. I imagine sewing like a zigzag or grid over the closed end to close it and reinforce it. I will then push a pair of rivets through a pair of gaps in that pattern to close a piece of leather over the end. I'll do this on both ends. A D-ring or some other hardware will pass through the loop of leather.

I haven't done any sewing since home economics in middle school (I'm 40). What are the words for that grid or zigzag pattern to reinforce something?

What needle should I be looking for to do this? I have some size A vintage silk thread that I have used for fly tying, and I would like to use that.

Is it feasible to try to do this by hand?

Any other thoughts or tips?

Please boost and/or recommend a better tag because I have no idea what I'm doing!

🧶🧶🧶 I like to follow certain sectors to stay current on color trends, and that includes nail polish. This is the OPI'm Dreamin' Spring 2025 collection. The polishes have a subtle shimmer to them, giving them an airy feel.

Expect to see these shades in places like makeup, textiles, and yes, yarns, especially from quick turn-around indie dyers who follow such things.
