This is cool!

"Pilet: Opensource, Modular, Portable Mini Computer"

kickstarter.com/projects/souls

A KickStarter for an open-source CyberDeck based on the Raspberry Pi and Linux. Actually 2 of them — a 5" version and a 7" version.

I love the retro look of these 🙂

Apparently this funded in 5 minutes! But, anyone can still get one.

I like that this also has a touch-screen. Many of the alternatives don't.

A past lost, a future denied

I've been taking a bit of a break from photography this month while I've been engrossed in other hobbies. Just about at the end of the month I finished a little personally project, a little personal computer made with a Raspberry Pi and a lot of 3d printing. This weekend this escalated to installing Linux almost all of my other computers, and, pretty soon, I think I'll have moved my social media presence fully here as well.

Does anyone know someone who uses a cyberdeck-style computer for music production / performance?

They look soooo cool. But sometimes I wonder if they are only built for showing off and people don’t use them. Could look super cool on stage!

Or is it all MacBooks and Thinkpads?

The #cyberdeck project is finally coming together! This is my first test fit with my "v1.0" prints, sans paint of course. Everything lines up so far, and the rigidity across the three separate pieces is amazing with just the internal screws and front plate installed. I'm currently printing the display mount, but you can see the holes where that goes.

My last couple tasks are figuring out a 5Vdc supply for the secondary cooling fan, and installing momentary switches for the UPS and PC power on. Also a few hardware issues to sort out, but that's relatively trivial! Ohhh, and I still need to figure out why antiX doesn't recognize the display - Mint sees it, so I at least have a reference for a working distro.

Tagging @garrwolfdog again, thanks once more for the inspiration!
