Yesterday's Rose<p>Another problem with <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/photography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>photography</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/geotag" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>geotag</span></a> process resolved. My sports watch keeps accurate time (NTP synchronised periodically), but my camera's clock might drift a bit (I only set it when I recharge the battery). So when I tried to set the tracks with <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/GeoSetter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GeoSetter</span></a>, it was often out of whack.</p><p>Well, turns out there's an option in GeoSetter that lets me catch up with the camera's clock drift. Doesn't really help me all that much dealing with old photos, but it should help me with recent ones. Would help me if there would be a way to tell the app "I KNOW this photo was taken right about here, around the time of the start of the GPS track - can you figure out the clock drift from that?"</p><p>GeoSetter is one of the few pieces of software that gets me irrationally angry because there's *shitloads* of good geotagging functionality (and it should be praised for that!), but the <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/usability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>usability</span></a> is absolutely godawfully *abysmal*.</p>

Yesterday's Rose<p>Finally found a working solution on how to <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/geotag" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>geotag</span></a> my <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/photowalk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>photowalk</span></a> photos with my <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Suunto" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Suunto</span></a> smartwatch.</p><p>Save a FIT file on the Suunto app, jiggerypoker it from my phone over cloud to my desktop, and use GPSBabel to convert it to GPX.<br>*Then* GeoSetter is willing to read it as a track with time data with no weird complaints.</p><p>Which is great, because FIT files can be saved directly on the app.<br>GPX files saved from Suunto app go through some weird web-based conversion step, and GeoSetter refuses to work with the resulting files anyway.</p><p><a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/photography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>photography</span></a></p>
