I watched this little exploration of the nyckelharpa yesterday. It even has a short explanation of the rhythm of polskas, which are often asymmetric. I really like the way they managed to capture the sound of the #instrument, including the sympathetic strings and key noises. Good stuff.
The "weirdest" setting I've seen nyckelharpa being played in was gamelan, where it did the balungan (skeletal melody) plus drone, which worked rather well.

BodyX. A Wearable Instrument by WILLPOWER.

After finishing the #eTextile #hardware, these are the very first sounds that emanated from rotating my wrist. The LEDs show the glove's activity.

BodyX multidisciplinary instrument that combines music, animation, light, technology, and the human body to create new forms of artistic expression and interaction.

And then, there was a dragon egg in my armchair!
This is the Ova by StoneWhistle. Essentially it's a very low bass #ocarina, and I mean LOW as in 65Hz or C2. It's also a percussion #instrument similar to the udu or ghatam, or both at the same time even. The decoration is terra sigillata and some cleverness involving blowing bubbles onto the surface (please help me describe that for the alt text). I'll write some more about it later, including audio; y'know, once I've spent some time with it.

An evocative improvisation "the sacred wings" by by Olena Uutai on #flute, voice, khomus (jawharp) and electronica, including various bird calls. Uutai has been playing the khomus, the national #instrument of Sakha (formerly Yakutia), since she was 7.
"Soundful and precious to our hearts, with the shivering tongue, with the iron stick dinging like a string, making a hundred various sounds." (sakhan poem about the khomus)

Absolutely mesmerising!
Madhuvanti Pal with a full ddhrupad instrumental performance in rāg yaman on the Rudra veena. Beginning her Hindustani classical #music journey on the violin and bansuri she eventually felt drawn to the large and rare Rudra veena. After struggling with her first #instrument, she decided to study with a master builder and learn how to make her own. And the one she plays here very skilfully sounds truly amazing!
