Queen of is it spring yet<p>Finally! But man, he's not the only one who completely bungled the <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a> investigation, and he should not be the only one getting fired.</p><p><a href="https://www.wcvb.com/article/trooper-dismissed-read-investigation-misconduct/64229805" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">wcvb.com/article/trooper-dismi</span><span class="invisible">ssed-read-investigation-misconduct/64229805</span></a></p>

C J Silverio<p>The judge in the <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a> case got even worse today. I didn’t believe it was possible. They think the federal investigation has closed with no charges filed, and it feels like that was the last blocker to the worst displays of bias.</p>
C J Silverio<p>When Peter Tragos gives up and says Cannone is obviously biased, the bias is indeed obvious.</p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo6Q_c10vFE&amp;t=632s" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=Oo6Q_c10vF</span><span class="invisible">E&amp;t=632s</span></a></p><p> <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>After two days of a qualifications hearing on whether the forensic pathologist with a subspecialty in dog bite wound—an MD who has widely published on the topic and testified in many previous trials— is qualified to testify in this case on the cause of the wounds on O’Keefe’s arm— a decision the judge called a “ close call”— the dog behavior expert without a medical degree has been approved to testify for the prosecution. Without a hearing.</p><p>On what topic we don’t know, because the Commonwealth did not specify.</p><p>In the last trial, judge Cannone refused to let the guy with the biomechanics degrees plural say anything at all about what the cause of okeefe’s injuries was because he wasn’t an MD. He’d been trying to say “ no way an SUV did that”, only more politely.</p><p>Hahahahshahahaha omfg </p><p><a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>Here's Andrea Burkhart saying what I've been thinking about Judge Cannone, starting with how typical it is for judges to side with the prosecution:</p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/live/Mc7QnDlfD-o?t=9677" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/live/Mc7QnDlfD-o?t</span><span class="invisible">=9677</span></a></p><p><a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>I’m watching the hearing again, this time for Andrea Burkhart’s commentary. She’s quite different and fascinating for different reasons.</p><p><a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>And now Jackson is pointing out that it doesn’t matter if proctor lied to Lally or not because Proctor is the prosecution. There is no distinction in the law. He could have used Bev’s own words from earlier today but did not. Probably wise.</p><p> <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>Proctor is a fine sacrificial goat but they were all in on it. </p><p> <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>Oh it was Michael Proctor who was in direct contact with the Canton cop the whole time. When asked about it during the first trial, Proctor lied but could not be impeached because the defense did not have the info.</p><p>And now Judge Bev is super polite.</p><p> <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>Cool cool it gets worse</p><p>ADA Lally had all this during the first trial</p><p>No smoking gun yet on who flipped it left/right and replaced the captions</p><p>The judge is NOW paying attention. Her attitude has shifted. She might be biased but not corrupt? Dunno yet; her actions will matter.</p><p> <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>Typing on my phone while eating lunch here.</p><p>A Canton police officer offloaded ALL of the footage of the sally port and access to all of it— the defense still does not. DURING THE FIRST TRIAL that police officer grabbed some of it and sent it to the Canton police chief with a note about how this was the footage they were talking about that would undercut the defense’s argument.</p><p>Rafferty didn’t hand that over because it actually helped the defense but that’s sorta not the point.</p><p>Every single thing in that sentence should get the case thrown out.</p><p> <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>I am well behind real time but holy shit and Melanie Little is incandescent. <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>The judge. Are you kidding me. Does she think no one sees what she’s doing. <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>Work has intervened, to your great relief.</p><p> <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>Really setting up the need for an evidentiary hearing. That’ll be fun if it happens.</p><p> <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>I’m working now, but still listening. Jackson is on a roll. <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>I seem to be deep down the rabbit hole.</p><p>Damn it.</p><p> <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
C J Silverio<p>The problem is that the FBI was already in Norfolk County looking into the Birchmore case, and they had already figured out that all these people were dirty, and they investigated this case too, and did a big dump of the work from their investigation to the prosecution.</p><p>Who tried to sit on it, of course. "Not exculpatory”, they said, “not subject to Brady.”</p><p>Of course it was 100% exculpatory. And this is how the defense got all the evidence of trooper bias (Proctor's obscene texts about Karen Read, etc) and the top-rate accident reconstruction work. Thus the FBI is why Karen Read is not in prison already. That they're trying to try her again is bizarre.</p><p>Isn't Brian Albert already off the hook? All the Norfolk DA has to do is decline to prosecute, just like they have declined to charge Sandra Birchmore's murderer, despite the FBI charging him with what they could charge him with.</p><p> <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/KarenRead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KarenRead</span></a></p>
