My kiosk project (see thread from my previous instance https://fosstodon.org/@crimperman/114374833343550926) is proving to be fun.
#fullpageos is a breeze to use and after searching through many guides I discovered the shutdown button was easy to implement too!
So now the testing phase is over and it's time to move from breadboard to soldering iron 
Fullpageos does use chromium but as this kiosk will always be offline while running, run only for a few hours a week and access a single locally hosted static page I am happy to live with it for now.
The downside being I couldn't run this on a pi zero or even 3A+ due to RAM requirements of chromium. So pi 3B+ it is then!
That 3B was my main retropie rig so, sadly, I've had to replace it with a new 4GB 4B+.
As you can tell I'm heartbroken
