I was delighted to see Lateral's latest episode is about the man command's easter egg, what a treat. I know the answer as early as I see the title of the video, how can one forget this funny little thing exist after they heard about it once, it's just too catchy. I'm not an ABBA fun but this songs lyrics still stuck in my mind.

'Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight ('half past twelve)' or I should say just "gimme gimme gimme", the man command's output when you run it in 00:30.

Edit: Sadly the fun has ended years before, this easter egg was removed 7 years ago. This detail somehow escaped me.

A recent #Lateral podcast question involved the change in job titles/organisation names that sometimes occurs when the UK gets a new monarch, e.g. QCs becoming KCs. Tom Scott suggests departments that refer to His or Her Majesty are 'fine' as they have the same initials (e.g. HMRC), seemingly unaware that these departments have Welsh names, which may change (e.g. CThEM becoming CThEF). Forever fascinating how invisible Welsh is, even to those with degrees in Linguistics from UK universities.
