Aebele TrijsburgI'm working on a medieval stag for hand washing (not yet fired). This device is called an aquamanile. He can be filled with water through the hole in its back and the tiny hole in its nose is the spout. The original (fourth image) is from 1300-1399 and resides in the V&amp;A museum. Parts of the antlers and both hind legs are missing.<br> .<br> .<br> .<br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/pottery?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#pottery</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/aquamanile?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#aquamanile</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/reenactment?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#reenactment</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/medieval?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#medieval</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/craft?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#craft</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/livinghistory?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#livinghistory</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/medievalhygiene?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#medievalhygiene</a>

Georg Pedersen<p>Vitamins vs hygiene</p><p>Are the people in Petunia's village all gross peasants because they don't eat their veggies, or do they just not know what a toothbrush is? However, despite the general lack of running water and other modern amenities, there were common expectations of personal hygiene such as regularly washing from a basin, especially the hands before and after eating which was regarded as good etiquette in a period when cu...<a href="https://www.worldhistory.org/Medieval_Hygiene/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">worldhistory.org/Medieval_Hygi</span><span class="invisible">ene/</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/BlackDeath" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BlackDeath</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/MedievalHygiene" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MedievalHygiene</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/StAnthony" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>StAnthony</span></a>'sFire <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/History" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>History</span></a></p>
Bunnyjadwiga<p>Ok, I've set my profile at last. I've got way too many years as an academic <a href="https://fiedlerfamily.net/tags/librarian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>librarian</span></a> with a reference &amp; tech focus, but I'm now splitting my time between a <a href="https://fiedlerfamily.net/tags/publiclibrary" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>publiclibrary</span></a> ( <a href="https://fiedlerfamily.net/tags/YA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>YA</span></a> programming &amp; reference, + <a href="https://fiedlerfamily.net/tags/digitalliteracy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>digitalliteracy</span></a> program) and a 2-year college (reference &amp; instruction). <br>I've been interested in <a href="https://fiedlerfamily.net/tags/herbs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>herbs</span></a>, especially history of herbs, since before <a href="https://fiedlerfamily.net/tags/bitnet" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bitnet</span></a>. I'm a member of the <a href="https://fiedlerfamily.net/tags/SCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SCA</span></a> and cook, teach and research there, with a side interest in <a href="https://fiedlerfamily.net/tags/medievalhygiene" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>medievalhygiene</span></a> and <a href="https://fiedlerfamily.net/tags/womensmedicine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>womensmedicine</span></a> history.</p>
