Fabio Manganiello<p>Federated code forges are the future of software development.</p><p>If we want to move as many folks as possible away from Github, then we need to provide an alternative model where opening an issue or a PR doesn’t involve creating dozens of accounts on a bunch of small Gitlab/Gitea instances, where my project on my instance can be followed also by someone on another instance, and where all of my contributions can be displayed under my handle even if I contribute to projects on another instance.</p><p>Forgejo is going in this direction with ActivityPub support, but it’s definitely taking a while.</p><p>In the meantime, <a class="hashtag" href="https://manganiello.social/tag/tangled" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Tangled</a> is an alternative based on the competing <a class="hashtag" href="https://manganiello.social/tag/atproto" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#ATProto</a> that may be worth a try.</p><p><a href="https://blog.tangled.sh/intro" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://blog.tangled.sh/intro</a></p>
