👍 A little late to the game on this one bit this book did what I wanted it to do. It gives depth and humanity to a previously flat character. Haymich is not the hero you want to root for if you knew him from Katniss’ journey, but knowing his story is something I have wanted for years. You know how it will start, you know how it will end, but the journey along the way will inspire you to think what makes a good man, what makes love worth fighting for, and most importantly how many sparks does it take to fan into a flame?<br>

An interesting prequel to the series. I love the idea of Anne Boleyn being an actual witch with a coven.
The book kind of glosses over a few things and reduces some other things down to pettiness. I think a full length novel would’ve fixed those issues.

An interesting portrayal of Lady Duff Gordon who divorced her husband and started a fashion empire. All very unheard of at the time. To top it off? She survived the Titanic and even crazier, cancelled her passage on the RMS Lusitania at the last minute. I enjoyed learning about her.

“Love is always harder. Love means weathering blows for another’s sake and not counting them.”A historical fiction set in France during the plague. It gave me Pillars of the Earth mixed with The Decameron vibes. I enjoyed following the MC’s on their journey and the character development. There were some consequences and some absolutely bonkers depictions of demons and Hell. The ending had some nice symmetry. The final boss fight was slightly anti climactic. I feel like after such a long journey, I needed more..

I loved finally getting to know Joel and Key better and Dusty was a dynamic FMC. Of course, I’m happy we got to see Becks x James and Dave x Izzy some more too
