Fuming mildly after seeing a personal anecdote designed to make men like me more comfortable with the notion of seeking emergency medical care in ambiguous situations that might be, but probably aren't, a heart attack. "Just go to the nearest ER and get checked out, it's the wise and smart thing to do, your wife will love you for your commitment to staying alive for her!"

It's also a quick way to incur more debt in an afternoon than some of us make in a year. Not such an easy decision to make.

Erotic Mythology (hire me) 💘

@ErosBlog It's possible that person was European. Here, going to the ER is free and the advice to go and get checked just to be safe makes sense.

@AimeeMaroux Yeah, I should have specified, but character limitations. Context was USA, person's profile contains indicia of wealth.

@AimeeMaroux I'm sure they didn't mean anything by it; their post didn't even mention money. No doubt the thousand bucks or so not covered by their fancy insurance is coming out of their health savings account or something comparably painless.

@AimeeMaroux @ErosBlog My health insurance has lapsed for a few weeks. My eyes look like this and I'd rather try and ride it out than go to the ER. Stay away from this country. It kills people.

@AimeeMaroux @ErosBlog I'm probably f***** but at least I'll be blind instead of a slave. ✊

@B_Whitewind @ErosBlog Naive question from a European: chemists at the pharmacy can often advise on treatment when symptoms are described. Would that be an option at all?

@B_Whitewind @AimeeMaroux BW, ouch! I try to tell myself that we were all gonna die anyway and that the gatekept healthcare I don't get is best thought of as not existing. At least I have my herb garden. Hope you'll be OK!

@ErosBlog @AimeeMaroux herb garden saved my life more times than I can count. Hold on to it. Things are only going to get worse.

@B_Whitewind @AimeeMaroux Actively improving and increasing my herb garden (and my herbal medicine skills) at every opportunity. Had a long-running sinus infection (sticky green gunk) last winter. Hoarded veterinary antibiotics didn't kill it. Mullein leaf in my tea (big traditional history of use for respiratory issues) cleared it right up.

@ErosBlog @AimeeMaroux Rosemary and holy basil work as well.
Not for the same things of course, but you know at all.
