I literally cannot stress this enough:
Fascism is something you do, not something you are. It literally does not matter WHY powerful people do the fascism; the actual fucking Nazi Party had all sorts of reasons "why" they supported Hitler and the Holocaust for fuck's sake. We don't study history by making a distinction between "true believers" and guys who helped Hitler because there was money in it for them - it's irrelevant. Fascism is something you do.
