I've tweeted about a hundred times today and while Elon Musk may not like any of them that's not stopped me getting lots of Likes, Retweets and comments. They're not telling me to shut up. But Mastodon's software apparently is. I am baffled by this. How many others will be chased off the site if we're not allowed to post anything? #RateLimited?

@phil I haven't reported it. I like this server and the moderator: @Gargron. When it's happened previously I assumed it was because I posted more than average and the servers had to ration us. But I've hardly posted anything for what seems like a long time. I've never encountered this problem on Twitter. #RateLimited
@TomDelargy @phil If you use a lot of different apps at the same time, the way some of those apps are coded they make a lot of requests especially if you get notifications often, which can exhaust the rate limit that exists to protect the server from abuse.
