@Migueldeicaza it's horrifying enough reading about it through the lens of American media, do you recommend a better source for news? maybe just Al Jazeera? I don't want to watch videos of people being bombed
@regehr last war or so I put a “Palestinian women” list on Twitter, and that was one of my direct sources.
I don’t watch Al Jazeera, as I don’t have access, but I usually see clips reposted.
Some folks with good coverage: Mariam Bargouthi, Rhania Khalek, Francesca Albanese, Ali Abunimah, “ecomarxi”, Nour Naim, Assal Rad, Kahlissee; Israelis: “ireallyhateyou”, Ori Goldberg.
Zachary Foster is an educator on the conflict and has every detail you might want.
All heart breaking
@regehr my two lists, the new one I just out together after your question and the old one, only women:

TikTok has great commentary too, but I struggle to remember the names and accounts. Will pay more attention.
@Migueldeicaza I don't have an X account any longer, but maybe I can make a secret one, like I did for facebook after I deleted my actual one, because sometimes you need to go to the bad places
@regehr let me get you another source - not worth it
@Migueldeicaza one in-USA source I've learned a lot from is @QasimRashid
@regehr @QasimRashid oh I see his posts around!
But I am coming up blank with posters here on Mastodon. Had not realized until this exercise. Maybe “if not now”, they have various chapters, I follow the boston one.
On threads, some folks, but their volume is a lot smaller than on twitter:

@objc @Migueldeicaza done. thanks!! yeah this is enough for now, I'm not even really in the habit of going to tiktok so I'll need to start doing that
@Migueldeicaza thanks. it's so unbelievably senseless
@regehr @Migueldeicaza Al Jazera is not necessarily in any way a *neutral* source either (it's funded by the Qatari government, which is an absolute monarchy with a dubious human rights record, with ties to Hamas).
But it's definitely a good place to find a different perspective, that's generally knowledgeable about the region. And is at least less biased than you might expect them to be, all things considered. And it talks about things American media ignores.
@Migueldeicaza as a 25 year old, I can’t but agree.
@Migueldeicaza it feels like we’re in a place where, basically no matter what we do, the world is going to end up a worse place anyway. Sure, I try to tell myself that there’s an option that’s significantly less bad than the other one, but that does in no way make it a “good” option, whatever that even means nowadays.
@Migueldeicaza we need a world that cares about the people that live in it, and we will never get there without a foundational change in the system.
@Migueldeicaza I don't follow USA politics. Is Trump promising to stop funding the genocide? That'd be an interesting campaign move.
@stevenroose no, both parties are all-in for this.
