Today I learned that 12 inches make one foot.

I was able to survive three decades being unaware of this fact.

@ondiz Fun fact: since the '60, the inch (and the pound, for instance) definition uses the metric system as reference. So, when you convert from inch to centimetre, you are indeed doing a "second order conversion." If you think that that does not make any sense, you are right 😜

@RGBes Really? I thought there was a model of the original foot somewhere.

@ondiz Yeah. EE. UU. almost move to metric back then and they started by fixing their units against the metric system, but then politics entered the scene and... the rest is history. Weird history.
