Obituary rules are the only obituaries show up in the paper are people whom other, currently living, people care about.
You won't see an obituary from anyone alone with no one, unless they themselves arrange for it.

I know this has been the culmination of decades of foundational work but even so, the speed of the collapse; generations of work wiped out in less than two months, damage done that will take generations to fix, if in fact that's even possible at all; and all because rich folk will never be told what to do no matter what.

@adwright it really was the Supreme Court passing Citizens United that allowed unlimited financial freedom in meddling with elections. Without Elon’s millions, Kamala had a great chance.

Citizen United was a huge step forward but these days there are so many ways dark money can come in - look at our CPC - it is last gen corruption now.
I think democracy's kryptonite was disinformation. Once you had a Fox News and Sinclair widebanding horseshit, horseshit became the new lingua franca for political discourse instead of fact.
@adwright Mm, definitely. I still think unharnessed campaign spending got the machine really revving. While there was still some amount of hindrance beforehand, that offered the super rich simple pay for play access.
Corrupting the US Supreme Court was the icing on the cake. Amazing how the highest court in the land can operate with less oversight than a 7/11 store.
Now they've taken all the laws off the President, and the wealthiest people on the planet, sociopaths all, who only know how to be disaster capitalists are firmly in the driver's seat, all the rest of us can do is prepare as best we can for best case disruption worst living case total collapse and mayhem in the weeks we have.
